Car Alarms: clifford auto immobilizer, oil pressure switch, clifford alarm

Question
passkey,  1996 buick alarm system,no pellet in key. question is where does the ignition (out) wire connect, or is it not used in some applications? clifford alarm uses a round key. trying to determine if this alarm is a starter disable only, or is it working with factory alarm. the wire in question is bare on the end, cannot tell if might have vibrated from a connection, wiring diagraghm would be helpful, also the hot wires are only stipped and taped in place. no scotch locks or tee connector. i know this is not a goodwrench site, but any help appreciated.

-----Answer-----
In 1996 GM was using VATS for anti-theft and some vehicles had a factory alarm.  To bypass the VATS permanently, use a multimeter to read the resistance across the pellet in the key.  Take a look at the ignition harness wiring coming down from the key cylinder.  The VATS wires will be in an orange jacket, normally they are both small gauge white wires.  Cut this harness, connect a matching value resistor between the two wires heading to the computer of the vehicle leaving the wires that head to the key disconnected.  This will eliminate the VATS as being the problem with the vehicle.

Some vehicles also came with a factory alarm.  Without knowing the exact vehicle it is difficult to say which is the factory alarm disarm wire, but most were a lt.green negative trigger that could be found in the door harness boot.

If your desire is to also disconnect the Clifford system, then you would have to not only pull the connections to the Clifford System, but also reconnect the wires that were cut when the Clifford was installed.

Answer
If you can provide me with both the exact model number of the Clifford system and make/model/year of the car I can try to give a more thorough answer.

It is very possible that not all the connections were made when the installation was complete.  If you feel the Clifford is suspect, remove it.  Disconnect all the wires to the system and re-establish the factory connections that were cut during the installation.
