Car Alarms: starting disbled due to anti-theft, minute time frame, gonna hitch

ok check this - u mentioned it thinks it is being started with the incorrect key and the chip in my key appears to be worn and moves side-to-side quite a bit, that was my first thought because i have had to "wiggle" it in the past - unfortunately, this being sunday and all, my local dealership isn't open so i can have another key made...the keyless entry stopped working like 3 days ago, i suspect due to the battery in my remote needing replacement...also the trunk switch rarely works with my keyless or the glovebox switch - are these symptoms of a major electrical failure in my near future? thanks for the help, i think first thing tomorrow i'm gonna hitch a ride to the dealership and have a key made...

i have a '92 el dorado that has major issues with the factory anti-theft. i replaced the battery last week and today i go to start it and immediately it tells me "starting disabled due to anti-theft wait 3 minutes". i have encountered this problem in the past and it has always started after waiting, but today it isn't working. i wait, try again and it tells me the same thing over and over. i disconnected the battery for 20 minutes and tried again with the same result - NOTHING. i read a question related to this and u advised taking it to a GM dealer but my car won't move so the only option i have is to somehow have it towed. is there no way for me to disable the system?

No, cause if there was, it would be easy right?
This is GM'S fun way of screwing with the aftermarket,
and reminding it's customers that they must come to them
for the repairs required on this system.

The 10 minute time frame is the indicator that points
to a passlock problem.  10 minutes is the magic number
that says the passlock has been put into long tamper mode,
the vehicle thinks someone is trying to start the car with
the incorrect key.

If there is no aftermarket remote start in the vehicle,
then the dealership is the only place for repair.  
If there is an aftermarket remote start,
then whatever method that was used to bypass
the passlock is malfunctioning.

Either way, the bummer is, if you don't tow it
to them, you can have them come to you if you
have the dough. Your local mechanic will not have
what's needed to circumvent it.

Again, catch 22 for you on this.

Before you hitch the ride over to them, Call them
and tell them the story. Because of the nature
of the security system and VIN number identification,
you will be asked to Identify the car as YOUR property.

Go prepared.

You could be having an electronic cascade going on that
is in the body control module or, a simular
malfunction.

This device controls all the others.

I'd tell them that first too. Tell them about all
the other stuff too.

Let the service department guy give you an idea
what is happening before hand.

There may be something I am not covering here
as an option as to cause and effect, but I still
would call first.
