Car Alarms: 1994 Toyota 4Runner, toyota 4runner, dash area

Question
Hi thanks for the directions.  There appears to be two push buttons under the dash.  A black one towards the right, and a white one towards the left.  I tried both and nothing happened.  Does the driver door need to be closed?  Do I need to hold the key towards the crank position while pushing the valet button?  I think I must be doing something wrong.  Thanks.

-----Question-----
I recently bought a 1994 Toyota 4Runner V6 with a factory installed alarm system and remote entry.  Lately, the key fob ceased to function, and even when I use the key to unlock the truck, if I don't engage the ignition within about 15 seconds, the alarm starts going crazy.  I replaced the battery in the key fob, but that doesn't seem to help.  Is there any way to reset/disable the alarm?  It's embarrassing!  Thanks.
-----Answer-----
he aftermarket alarm seems to be doing it's job.
At least we know it's installed correctly
which is actually a good thing here.

Ok, try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, locate, press and hold in the
valet/overide button, found under the
dash area, (push button, spring loaded)
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes on solid,
and the siren chirps once.

(Your valet switch might be the toggle
(on/off) type. in this case, key on,
flip switch in opposite direction,
then turn the key off.)

This should reset the alarm, and reset
the grounded relay on the starter wire,
allowing you to start the engine.

At this point, the only thing working would
be the keyless entry from the alarm,
if it came equipped that way.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to usable armed mode.
You may get 2 chirps, confirming it,
and the lights may flash twice as well.

That should do it.
If you want to remove it at this point,
take it to your neighborhood installer
for this, or buy the wiring chart
(Go to: www.vehiclewires.com)
for the vehicle, and reverse engineer it wire
by wire, until safely removed.

If it does not work out this way,
you will have to replace the system
with one you know how to operate
and what to expect. Don't want to
get stuck in another bad situation.

Let me know what happens.

Answer
Hmmm, I am leaning towards the black one.

No what we need with the key, is to see an
ignition sense, so the alarm knows it's on or, off,
so.... all the way forward just before cranking.

Once done, within say 3 to 5 seconds, press and hold
in the black button for approx 5 to 7 seconds.
Normally an alarm will chirp the siren once,
then the parking lights would flash, and that is
valet overide. The car would be able to start
if starter kill is part of the alarm, and the
only thing working would be remote keyless entry
if installed.

If no joy, let me know and we'll try to
get you to the right wires to disable the
alarm.
