Car Alarms: 2001 Chevy van - starts and dies with Viper remote starter, chevy van, passlock

Question
Hi, I just purchased an 01 Chevy van with a Viper alarm/remote starter. When I push both buttons to start the van, the turn lights flash, the engine starts and then immediately turns off. I did not get any paperwork with the van and don't have the slightest idea where to look for the problem. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! Mike

Answer
It appears that the PASSLOCK III -vats
system is either not being bypassed correctly
(likely) or this part of the alarm was not
installed because of the PASSLOCK III system.

Either way, you need to bypass the PASSLOCK
in the igniton to remote start, or it will
simply attempt 3 times and shut down.

Have a local tech look at this part of the installation.
May simply be a misconnected wire, or the
dip switch setting in the module may need
to be reset.

Also, go to www.PASSLOCKBYPASS.com to see
what I and talking about.

Will enlighten you I think.

Let me know what you discover.
