Car Alarms: RS 3000 remote, toyota corolla, code recognition

Question
does the doors have to be closed when programming the remote? I bought a 98 toyota corolla and bought a new remote at the dealer.I have a book on how to program the remote but it will arm the vehicle but the remote does not respond it will not lock or unlock the doors nor will it silence the alarm.

Answer
I imagine the procedure is missing an element here.
Usually you would use the ignition key, the valet/
overide-programing switch that is in the car, and
the lock button on the remote to confirm programing.

I suggest contacting the seller you got the
new remote from for some support on the
programming process before you inadvertantly
mis-program it. This could lock out the
frequency code recognition system, and then
you are stuck again.

Give them a call for some imput.

Good luck.
