Car Alarms: 94 Jeep factory alarm, light flasher, dash area

Question
Will the factory alarm allow engine to crank and then stall? If so how do you stop this from occurring.

Answer
Yes, but it does depend on which Jeep.
If it's the Cherokee, then no just a noise generator
and a light flasher. If the grand cherokee,
then yes it will kill the starter too.

No on the Wranglers.

If it's an aftermarket alarm with starter
kill, which is a 60% probability, then
try this:

Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, locate, press and hold in the
valet/overide button, found under the
dash area, (push button, spring loaded)
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes on solid,
and the siren chirps once.

(Your valet switch might be the toggle
(on/off) type. in this case, key on,
flip switch in opposite direction,
then turn the key off.)

This should reset the alarm, and reset
the grounded relay on the starter wire,
allowing you to start the engine.

If it's a factory issue, you would need to locate
the factory disarm wire and ground it.

I sell the wiring info for most vehicles
from 1981 to the present at www.wirewerx.com
if you need to disable the factory system

I hope the explained it to your satisfaction.

Good luck with it.
