Car Alarms: 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee immobilser, jeep grand cherokee, airbag warning light

Question
Hi Darren

No, I have not touched any wiring etc.  The fault just occurred.  I managed to get the engine started and have driven the vehicle to the main dealers, it has been with them for 4 days and even they seem mystified.  Would it be a damaged loom between drivers door and door frame?  The only clue I get that the fault has occurred when being driven is that the windows do not operate and the airbag warning light is on.  If I open any door, except the drivers door under fault conditions the alarm is activated and cannot be silenced using the key fob.  The only way to stop tha alarm is to remove the 50amp fuse located in the power distribution centre under the bonnet.  Have you any further clues?

Many thanks for your reply

-----Question-----
I have a UK spec.1998 JGC  The problem I have is intermittent, under fault conditions the kee fob operates on all doors except the driver door.  The vehicle is immobilised, the windows are inoperative, no chirps or direction lights flashing.  Sometimes I can get the vehicle stared by removing the 50 amp fuse located in the power distribution centre, but, although I can drive the vehicle the windows will not wind down and the airbag warning light is lit.  Once the engine is switched off then it will not restartadn the drivers door can only be locked using the key.

I would be grateful if you could shed light on this matter

Kind regards

Dear Barrie,
Please standby while I forward your inquiry to my
ALARMTEK Technician in Belfast, as he is the
man for the job, as it were.

He's better suited to answer this one I think.
I will post his responce once he does.

Thanks for your patience.

RESPONCE:

Has to be wiring or, body computer related, all those items are on different circuits, did he do any wiring or work on the car recently.

Answer
Ok, let's try
an experiment. Won't harm the system,
but may solve the OEM factory alarm system malfunctions.
But after we establish that it
will work, I strongly suggest
you replace it with a good aftermarket
system. Please locate the FACTORY ALARM DISARM wire,
purple/yellow |-| in the door harness,
Drivers side or passenger side Kick Panel.

Next, splice into it and put to a solid chasis
ground.

This will keep the alarm from operating at all.

Let me know what happens.
