Question -
I just bought the hawk remote start and keyless entry unit from ebay.  It is for my commuter truck so didnt really need anything more then what hawk had.  My question is that after the install everything works fine except for the distance.  I need to be no more then 10-12 feet away from the truck to use the remote start or keyless entry.  I would like to know why.  The unit does not have an antenna and is that what i am missing. If it didnt come with one can i add one. Maybe there are some tricks of the trade that can be helpful for me.  I just need to add at least another 15 feet.  I dont need more then that.

thank you

Ok, without an antenna, you are lucky to get the 10 feet
you are getting. You need the correct antenna for this
unit or no go. They are all frequency locked systems
and do not have interchangeable antennas. Usually,
no signal at all will operate it withou an antenna,
so you have a bit to go on, but not much.

Your range should be upwards of 700 to 1000 feet.
(normally)

Nope, get back to the seller and have one sent to you or,
you will need to replace the whole brain assembly.

Sorry for the bad news.

Good luck.

Answer
You will need to call/contact the seller.
But I can tell you that ALL remote starters and alarms/keyless entry
system have antennas. 90% of remote starter units
have an external, plug in antenna, and Hawk's does
too. I do not use or sell them here, but
I would contact the seller, and put it back into
his hands for this. They sold it to you, they need
to fix this issue. Right?

Good luck.
