Car Alarms: 2003 Honda CRV self activating alarm, 2003 honda crv, passive system

Question
We bought a used 2003 Honda CRV one year ago.  The seller warned us about the alarm system. If you leave the car in the garage without locking, and later, open any door just to get something, the light on the stearing column starts blinking and the alarm soon goes off.  The dealer changed the alarm "brain" last May and reprogramed the remotes(the last month under warranty).  It stopped for the summer but started up again a few weeks ago. EXAMPLE - If you get out of the drivers seat, take the keys, close the door(without locking), and slowly walk to the back and open to get groceries, you will set off the alarm.
I have searched the internet for similar complaints and have found none. We can live with it, but it is annoying to always have to use the clicker even when the car is not locked. Any suggestions?
Thank you,
Chuck

Answer
Factory alarm, I would assume?  Although I have never seen a vehicle arm that quickly, I would suggest to read the owner's manual for the vehicle and see if passive arming can be disabled.

Get back to us if you locate something in the
manual that was helpful.

If and aftermarket system, there would be
a way to set it up as a passive system.

I'd like to know if that is possible too.
Is it a siren or a car horn the sounds when
the alarm is triggered?

A.
