Car Alarms: Alarm problem, side kick panel, jeep question

Question
-------------------------I double checked, and their is no after market alarm on the Jeep.  Question I have is, when the factory security alarm went off, what did it cut off to disable the vehicle from starting, because, it still wont start.  would it have to do with the ignition switch, or starter, or fuel pump?  I've been trying to figure this out all day yesterday.  Thanks again, on the disabling of that alarm.

It flashes the Headlights and honks the horn.  if this is the factory alarm, and I do have to ground out the wire, how would I know if I have the right wire?  and is it purple with yellow, or closer to red in color, with yellow stripe?  thanks for your help.  Ken-------------------------

Question -
I just bought a 1993 Jeep Gr.Cherokee from a repo company.  I test drove the vehicle, and loved it.  only problem with the car was the ignition, had to be ripped off, to have it repoed.  So,we can only start it with a screwdriver.
Now the problem, the Jeep was delivered to us by towtruck, because the alarm had been going off, and he didn't know how to disingage it.  The dealer had told him to use the passanger door lock, and lock it then unluck it.  if that don't work, disconnect the battery for a couple of hours, hook back up, and enter thru passanger door.  Well, tried both of these tricks, and still nothing, as I try to start it, the engine cranks, but won't start, then the horn flashes, lights flash, and lights on dash flash.
I've read on the internet, about grounding out a purple and yellow wire, on driver side kick panel.  But didn't want to do anything, until someone can give me an answer, and sound assured it would work.  Is this you?  please help.

Hi Ken,
Yes it will work as long as we are talking about the
"OEM FACTORY" alarm, and not an aftermarket system,
which yours is beginning to sound like.

Does yours flash the head lights,
honk the cars horn, or does it flash the parking lights,
have a siren and an LED in the dash board, and an overide
button or switch under the dash?

This is aftermarket, and would be easier to disable.

Tell me which best describes what's going on with yours.

It's purple/yellow and is the
only one. It will be in the wire pack
coming through the drivers door grommet as well.

No once that's done, it's disabled.
You might have an aftermarket alarm
with a starter kill relay inline.

You would need to drop the underpanel from the steering
column, and then locate the starter wire, cut off
the relay inline, and then re attatch the starter wire
ends. While under there, I suggest you remove the aftermarket alarm & starter kill device entirely.

If you want the car wiring data chart, I sell those for
3.99 at www.vehiclewires.com . Would make a good guide for you and I think you may need it.

Answer
Then I am stumped if no aftermarket system exsists, and you've disabled the factory system, then you might have other issues I am not aware of. I have already shared with you what I thought was the issue. Now you may need a
mechanic to procede here.

Good luck with it.
