1998 Ford Explorer Sport. For the past couple of days the alarm system goes off spontaneously so that I finally resorted to parking it and disconnecting the battery. Any ideas? It has never been a problem until now. Thanks.  SRH/Tyler,Texas

The horn goes off/on/off/on....... There is no dashboard LED. This system has no siren nor flashing light mode. It has a keyless entry function if that matters.

Thanks for the very quick reply.  SRH/Tyler, Texas

Answer
Well from the sounds of it, the factory alarm system
is detecting an open door circuit and is sounding
the horn and flashing the lights.

That really the only way the factory system
would be set off. Check around the car, back hatch
etc...for any cargo or dome light on when you close
the doors. This will set it off.

If no luck there, you can permanantly disable the
factory alarm from triggering, ever.
Locate the FACTORY ALARM DISARM wire , dk.green/purple
in the driver's side plastic kick panel area, splice
into it, and then ground to the chassis.
That take care of that. But then, get an
alarm/keyless system that WILL protect you
because after grounding that wire, the Explorer
is easy pickins.

Good luck.
