Car Alarms: self contained troubleshooting, omega products, 4 x4

Question
I have a self contained unit in a boat that I bought used. I have no manuals or paper work of any kind. There is no name on the unit, only the numbers AL-430.It is a grey cube apx 4"X4"x4". Recently it started going off for no reason and then about a month later it just stoped working. The only wires being used in the installation were the pos, neg, led, and wire to trunk and hood trigger (which is wired to white plastic triggers apx 2"x 1/4"x 1/4" on each hatch of the boat. I think these are magentic switches. when you push the remote you can hear some clicking from the unit and the led will flash 3 times and then pause and repeat the 3 flash sequence. You will not hear the voice prompt for "alarm activated or system disarmed". Thanks for any help provided Mike

Answer
Sorry Mike, but from the sounds of it,
the system is shot. It also sounds as if
water or more to the point, moisture
may have done it in. The system is made
by OMEGA (www.caralarm.com) and is also
called the K9-4. This unit is not even being
sold by Omega any longer, but that's
where it's produced.

Unfortunately, I can't help with the
system as it is not something I would carry here,
but try my friends at www.AUTOTECHS.com to see
if you might be able to replace it. I believe
they sell Omega products and still may carry that
one as well.

Good luck with it.
