Car Alarms: 1997 Toyota Camry Factory Alarm, toyota camry, dash area

Question
I currently own a 1997 Toyota Camry XLE.  It has the factory alarm with keyless entry.  Just recently the alarm stopped honking when arming.  I don't know what I did to make this happen; but I would like to get the honk back when arming the alarm.  You guys being the Alarm experts I was wondering if you guys could help me out.

Thanks

Answer
This is an aftermarket system you have there, as
the 97 Camry is not Factory alarm equipped.
It may be in Valet/overide, or the siren
is damaged, water perhaps.

Try to reset the alarm by locating the valet
overide switch under the dash area. Once
found, put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, locate, press and hold in the
valet/overide button. when the LED (light)
in the dash comes on and stays on solid, you are
in valet. In your case, once you do those
steps above, after 5 to 6 seconds, the siren would
chirp 2 times, and then will be reset to go again.

If this does not happen, you may need to look into
replacing the siren under the hood.

Let me know how you did.

Good luck.
