Question
I bought a used 1998 nissan maxima gle . It was stolen .When recovered had to replace the ignition, but the factory alarm keeps going off. the alarm goes off continusely and the car won't start. I've tried putting the key in the door and even disconnecting the battery. nothing works.. Please help a.s.a.p...

Answer
The factory alarm in this vehicle is disarmed
when the doors are unlocked. If you have your
remote that controls the locks, it should
be sending a ground pulsed disarming the alarm.
If not, you can either go to Nissan for remotes.,
(approx 100.) or go aftermarket which is frankly
alot better.

If you do not have a remote, buy a simple keyless
entry and install it here. Then it will be
sure to disarm it. If not, then there may be other
issues that Nissan can nail down that I am not aware
of.

But honestly, it appears that the factory alarm
is set constantly because of the theft. This
fix is probably be the cheapest way out.

The up side is you get a nice keyless entry
convenience system out of the deal
that controls the factory alarm.

Not a bad thing!
Good luck with it.
