Car Alarms: Deactivating an alarm, viper alarm system, mx3

Question
I have a viper alarm system installed in my 1995 MX3 and my remote isn't functioning well.  I've replaced the battery but sometimes it takes me 5-10 minutes of constant pressing to deactivate the alarm.  Do you have any ideas about what may be wrong with my remote and how to fix/replace it?  How can I deactivate the alarm permanently?    I have tried putting the key in the ignition and pressing the button until the alarm beeps, but it still resets when I close the door.  Please help... I'm tired of waiting in the cold.

The trouble is that the alarm is not
responding no matter what you seem to try.
This does not bode well for salvaging the system.

Make sure the key is on forward, just before starting,
and then press and hold the button. The LED
in the dash should come on solid.

If no joy then, get over to the local DEI dealer
and have that piece of junk removed.
(Cicuit City carries them.)

Until then, you can not trust the
reactions of this one, and it will continue to
be a problem until you get it unplugged and replaced.

Sorry it's not what you wanted to hear, but it is
what to expect. If you want to try to replace the
remote, either the same DEI dealer can do that,
or try www.remotesunlimited.com and see
if you can match it.

Wish I had better news.
Good luck with it.
