I have a friend wih a factory alarm system on his 1993 Grand Cherokee. Apparently his key fob remote has not worked in a very long time. Today the alarm system activated and he cannot start his car. How do you dissarm the alarm without the remote?

Thanks
Answer -
Ok, please tell me what is being experienced when you say
the alarm is "activated". Is it the car's headlights
flashing and the car's horn honking? Or is it a siren
and the parking lights? I can help either way, just
need to get to what's going on here.

Let me know

As far as I know the lights have stopped blinking and the horn had stopped too. At this point there is an indicator on the dash that says the security system is active (I forgot what he told me it was labeled) and the car turns over and fires but shuts off right away.

Thanks a ton,

Answer
Ah, ok then, A little surgery will be needed here
because that is infact the Jeep's OEM security that
was breached. At this point, you will need to
get into the drivers side kick panel area,
and locate the purple/yellow striped wire in
a black plug near the hole where the wires come
into the cab from the drivers door.
Then you will want to splice a wire, prefferably
a black wire, into the purple/yellow and then
put it to a solid chassis (body) ground.
This will permanantly disarm/disable the factory
system.

I then STRONLY suggest you put in an aftermarket
alarm/keyless system you understand from
the begining, and that does what he wants it to do.
This truck is wide open for a thief, and does not
take long to steel even with the factory
system engaged!

Makes for a safer, more convenient experience.

Good luck with it.
