Car Alarms: 2001 Ford F-150, ford f 150, polarstart

Question
I have a 2001 ford f-150. I have a Polarstart ps3125 remote starter installed in it. It has factroy keyless entry (late production). If I lock the doors with the switch on the drivers door I am unable to unlock them with the Polarstart keyfob, if I have not remote started the truck. Is this normal or is there a way around it.

Answer
I would have to inspect it. Hard to do from
here, but it sounds as if once you manually
lock the doors at the switch, power to the
unlock output on the remote starter is temporarilly
disrupted so you can not use it. Odd, but that
may be a safety feature in the Ford. It also
may be a feature in the remote starter as well.
If it sees the ignition is engaged, the
Polarstart, as a safety feature, would not allow the
unlocking. Hard to say unless I could read
this rem start manual, but it does sound likely.

The bad news is yes, it does appear that you will not
be able to change that in this install.

Good luck with it.
