Question -
Besides underneath the dashboard, where would be the ideal location for installing the "brain" of the alarm system?  For any automobile.
Answer -
It's specific to the vehicle. The idea is to
give the harnesses enough "snaking" room so that
nothing impeads or pulls, and also an area
where the brain is common to to the parts you want
to install. Foreinstance, if doing remote start,
car alarm and keyless entry, you will have
an external antenna. This will go to the top
of the window glass, so the brain should be
up high in the left cavity, wire tied securely.
This way you can access all the other
points in the underdash needed to complete the
project.

I hope this helps. Have a look at my site

Answer
No not really, but it would
still take the thief time
to do it if mounted up high.
Alarms are deterents. It's the
degree of the deterent that makes
the difference. If installed right,
and alarm should keep a thief from stealing
your car or, truck.

But they are not infalable,
if a thief wants your car, a flatbed truck driveby
solves that.

For a more advanced system, I suggest
a Lojack type system that can be turned on when/
if your car is stolen, to satalite track it,
along with a deterent,paging
car alarm/keyless/remote starter system
to enhance it.
