Car Alarms: Clifford Arrow 2 Car Alarm, clifford alarm system, valet mode

Question
Hi there!

I wounder if you can help. I have an Arrow 2 Clifford alarm system fitted to my Ford Capri.

When I brought the car the guy said the alarm had not worked since some work was done on the car (New wings fitted).
I found the control box and there is a white wire that comes out and goes no where.. It is not connected. The LED on the steering cowl is always on and the user guide indecates this means: Valet mode however the indicatior light flash when the alarm is activated/deactivated.

I can not find a wiring diagram for this model anywhere on the net and Clifford seem to have been taken over.

Can you surgest an alternitive route?

Answer
Yes Clifford is now owned by Viper.
And that system is too old to work with
comfortably. You have no way of knowing what
it is capable of, and at this point, I would
opt for something new, and one that you know from the
beginning. Best idea here is to remove it, and
replace it.

If you want to try going in and out of valet mode,
try this:

Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button, found under the dash area,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes on solid, and the siren chirps once.
(Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type.
in this case, key on, flip switch in opposite direction,
key off.)

This should reset the alarm.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to usable, armed mode.

That should do it.
If you want to remove it at this point,
take it to your neighborhood installer
for this, or buy the wiring chart for
the vehicle, and reverse engineer it wire
by wire, until it's safely removed.

Let me know what happens.
