Car Alarms: Starter Kill Malfunction, viper dealer, dash area

Question
I have a 1997 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer. I have a viper alarm with remote start and starter kill which was installed over 4 years ago.Just this morning, my truck will only start with the remote start. Neither of my keys will start it. Sometimes, I'll hear it attempt to crank for a milisecond and then nothing. However, when I remote start it and then put the key in, it works fine. Since I have a chip in the keys, I went to the dealer and they assured me that the keys are still programmed to start the truck and the problem is will the kill switch on the Alarm. Is there anything I can do myself? I removed the fuse to the alarm, but then I couldn't start the truck @ all. Please help!!!

Answer
The issue sounds like the transmod bypass module installed in the ignition column to get around the chip has
gone haywire, Best suggestion now is to get it over
to a Viper dealer to have them repair it. Until then,
I would go into Valet overide mode.

Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button, found under the dash area,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes on solid, and the siren chirps once.

This should reset the alarm.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to usable armed mode.

That should do it.

Then get it serviced.

Good luck with it.
