Car Alarms: 96 Camry alarm, valet mode, viper alarm

Question
First off, it is very admirable that you lend your expertise to those of us in need. Thanks in advance! I have a 96 Camry with (I think)a Viper alarm. The key fob has two buttons only. The left button arms and disarms, the other does nothing. One blink/chirp=armed, two blinks/chirps=disarmed. For some reason, my alarm no longer "chirps" when I arm or disarm, it only blinks. The doors still lock/unlock just fine, but the alarm does not seem to go off when it is armed. I have a valet switch under the dash that I think is the culprit. How can I make the alarm chirp again?

Thanks!

Answer
I think you may have missed a step here.
Ok, try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button. This should get you out of valet mode,
you should hear a couple of chirps and see
the parking lights flash in response.

You somehow seemed to have slipped
into overide and this should reset the alarm.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to valet mode.

That should do it.

Let me know how it goes.
