Car Alarms: Viper Car Alarm/command start doesnt work, inline fuse, valet mode

Question
Thanks for the quick response.  If the alarm goes off (alarm horn starts) when I disconnect and reconnect the battery it suggests the fuses are OK, unless there is a different power line fuse that you are talking about.  In addition, I can get the red light to go solid by using your other suggestions related to the Valet Mode.  But nothing else.  It's as though the remote control option has been turned off.  The remote control light turns on when it's button are pressed, but nothing happens on the Van.  Is it possible that the remote control has somehow been turned off?

Question -
I have a Viper alarm with the following remote: FCC ID:EZSDE1485, the remote has 4 buttons, 1,2,3,4.  The alarm was working fine until the car lights were left on, I had to boost the car.  The alarm/command start worked for a short period after that, then just stopped working.  I've tried disconnecting the battery then reconnecting, the alarm goes off but I can't stop it with the remote.  I'm looking for the manual so I can understand what the hell is going on.  Does anyone know where I can get a copy?  The alarm was purchased sometime in 1998.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.  We live in Yellowknife, NT and we miss our command start on the cold days :)

Answer -
It appears you have surged and blown
an inline fuse. You will need to locate
the fuses on the heavier guage wires
going to the ignition wires for the
one that popped.

For support on Viper (I do not do that here)
go to my online forum at www.INSTALLSUPPORT.com
and talk to Raul. He's the resident DEI/Viper tech.
Very helpfull.

Good luck with it.
(stay warm up there!)

Answer
Most remote starters have 3 12 volt constant
power attatchements. 1 smaller one for the alarm
and 1 or, 2 heavier guage wires going to the constant
power source. Check them out.

But as I said earlier, I do not sell, install
or, use Viper here at ALARMTEK.

To get the best support on it,
please do as I suggested earlier
at www.INSTALLSUPPORT.com . I am just
going by my own experience with this sort of
problem, and it's not uncommon regardless
of what system is used.
