Car Alarms: 97 Jetta Factory Alarm, keyless entry system, trigger system

Question
We have a 97 Jetta with a broken drivers door lock, since the lock is broken the alarm will not disengage, rendering the car unuseable.  When you open the door the alarm is activated, the red indicator light is off also.

Is there a way to bypass the alarm so that we can use the vehicle?

Answer
Actually there is but it involves adding at least
an aftermarket keyless entry system to control the lock
and unlock of your car. Ya see inside the drivers door
is a wire that unlocks your door. It is a positive
trigger system and would need something to momentarily
pulse to disarm the system. That's where the aftermarket
keyless entry solves the problem. It can be used
to lock unlock/ arm and disarm the factory system
simultainiously. Sounds a bit complex, and it is
a tad, however it is also the cheapest method to do it
without going to the expense of actually fixing the
lock.

I do however suggest you do fix the lock trouble
so there won't be any alarm issues.

I hope this helps.
