Car Alarms: Removing old Viper alarm from auto?, bosch relay, jeep cherokee

Question
I would like to remove a 10 year old Viper alarm from my 1988 Jeep Cherokee. I don't have any alarm experience and the wiring looked a little confusing. I noticed that it is intergrated into the trucks wiring. I don't know the Viper model number but it has a black box, a clear box with visible electronics, a small box that looks like a Bosch relay, a on/off switch, a small LED light in the window and the horn under the hood. What would be the best thing to do?  Thanks

Answer
Have a look at www.mrinstall.com and reverse engineer it.
You have identified the valet/LED/shock sensor
starter kill relay and of course the black box
already, so keep going.

Start by unplugging the harness plugs going
into it, (led-valet etc...)
and remove all. On the main
harness, once unplugged,
I would simply cut each wire
(seperately so you don't short out anything)
approx. 4 to six inches from the connector,
and black tape each off.

In doing it this way, you can install it
in another car if you like.
But I would upgrade at this point.

Good with it.
