Car Alarms: Key clicker doesnt work on Viper alarm, dash area, flip switch

Question
My valet switch is a toggle type and when I try it as described below, (key on, toggle, key off), the only thing that happens is my doors unlock. The LED is not blinking, but is off all of the time and never turns on.

Think I may have to have someone come out and work on it. I was hoping to get the vehicle started and drive it to someone to deinstall.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Question -
I have a viper alarm on a 97 van. Don't use it anymore, if someone stole the van I'd make them keep it, (180K + miles). Car battery went dead and as soon as there is power to car alarm goes off and won't start, just as designed...

My 2 button remote does not work anymore and I need to use the van. My question is how can I disable the thing. I don't need an alarm on this van.

Thank you for your assistance
Answer -
Ok, try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button, found under the dash area,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area comes on solid.
(Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type.
in this case, key on, flip switch in oposite direction,
key off.)

This should be valet. This overides
the starter kill relay in the alarm harness,
and returns the car back to disarmed mode.

The only thing that will work now on your system,
is the keyless entry if installed.

Just Repeat these steps to rearm your system.

That should do it.
If you still want to remove it at this point,
take it to your neighborhood installer
for this, or buy the wiring chart for
the vehicle, and reverse engineer it wire
by wire, until it's safely removed.

Let me know what happens.

Answer
Hmmm, ok then can you get the under panel
under the steering column off? If so, locate
the wires coming off of the key switch,
you will find the starter wire.
It is the only wire that shows 12 volts
when cranking ONLY. On this wire,
you will also find a relay that was installed
inline. Cut this relay out, and reattatch
the 2 starter wire ends back together.
That's it. Done. Then your van will
start and you can unplug the alarm and
replace with one you do understand.

This should get you going.

Good luck with it.
