Car Alarms: viper 550 car alarm, dash area, starter wire

Question
I had this alarm installed a couple of years ago and have had no problems out of it till now.  Today I started my truck up and it ran just fine and then just shut off for no reason.  I am still getting good fuel pressure, good spark, good compression, but the truck will not start on it own.  If I feed it fuel by spraying it in the intake it will run fine, but it won't run on its own.  I was told that it was probably some kind of kill swith on my truck linked with my alarm that is not allowing it to run.  I have no idea on how to look for this switch or how to deactivate or bypass the switch to see if that is what is causing my problem.  I am hoping that you can help me with this.

Answer
Well, that's odd. Starter kill relays are installed
on starter wires only. What you would get here
is nothing at all when cranking, no start possible.
The relay essentially seperates the starter wire
when the alarm is armed. It seems
the alarm is armed and is grounding a wire
and the installer may have used a fuel injector wire for some reason.
Could be a remote starter in the car. But
the likelyhood of malfunction after very
little use, leads me to believe it may be
another issue, other then the performance
of the alarm system. I may be doing it's job,
and needs resetting to allow it to start.

All things are possible right?

Short of that, it could be trouble with the mechanics
of your fuel pump/injectors, and I would have
a mechanic look at that. Probably has little
to do with an aftermarket alarm.

However,

If it's a valet Overide issue
try this:
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button, found under the dash area in most cases,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area comes on solid.
(Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type.
in this case, key on, flip switch in oposite direction,
key off.)

This should be valet. This overides
the starter kill relay in the alarm harness,
and returns the car back to disarmed mode.

The only thing that will work now on your system,
is the keyless entry if installed.

Just Repeat these steps to rearm your system.

That should do it.
If you want to remove it at this point,
take it to your neighborhood installer
for this, or buy the wiring chart for
the vehicle, and reverse engineer it wire
by wire, until it's safely removed.

Let me know what happens.
