Car Alarms: Chevy Suburban Alarm problem, chevy dealership, alarmtek

Question
My Chevy Suburban (2002) has a third party alarm system. I bought it two years ago and just last month, the alarm system started auto-arming itself. Now, when the car is left unlocked, after 30 seconds or so the alarm turns itself on. If we open the door, all the lights, horns and sirens go ballistic. Not very popular in our quiet neighborhood. If I press the "Unlock" button before or after I open the door the alarm is turned off.

How can I get rid of the auto-alarm feature? Or how can I just turn the alarm off? I don't know if this information is needed, but the remote says:

GM/UTA 15732803
FCC ID; KOBUTIBT
CANADA 1983 101 393

I don't know the maker of the alarm, or where to look for it. Thanks for your help.

David

Answer
The trouble is it's a code alarm. They are now owned
by DEI (viper) www.directed.com .
The feature setting in the alarm allows for toggling
between active and passive (yours) arming.
The trouble comes in the programming procedures.
You will need to go to the local chevy dealership
and get some help there on that.
Tell them you need to go back into ACTIVE mode
(you must press the buttons to do any function)
as opposed to passive which it's in now.

I wish I had better news, but when its a
"GM/UTA" issue, it is not considered an
aftermarket system, and is out of my
expertise.

Go to www.remotesunlimited.com and see your remote.
They may be able to assist there. I unfortunately
do not have any info to share with you on
this particular system.

My appologies.
