Car Alarms: 1990 Infinity Q45, infinity q45, steering wheel

Question
My daughter hydroplaned her 1990 Q45 into a ditch of water. The car was towed out. Starts and runs fine but the key will not come out of the ignition and the shifter will not move out of park. Could this be a problem with the cars security system?

Answer
No it sounds like a mechanical issue.
The steering wheel is locking it in place it
seems. You will need to take it to your
local infinity dealer for repair.

The alarm would not physically lock up
your steering column. That's not possible.
If it's aftermarket, the alarm could
keep the starter from turning over, but
not lock the column, or prevent the key
from coming out. It's more likely, you need
to turn the steering wheel
harder to get the parking shifter to
go into park, then you should
be able to remove the key.

Sorry, but you'll need to keep searching
for a solution on this one.

Good hunting.
