Auto body repair & detailing: paint matching question, acura integra type r, acura rsx

Question
Championship is the original, because the car is actually from Japan and is the type R model, which they do not have here in the united states.  They stoped making acura integra type r models here in i think 99 or so.  This was not an insurance repair, and they have my car right now, and will not fix it, or give me the car unless i agree the paint is OK and pay it in full.  He said he coulnt match it because it was from japan, but i told him he just had to call me if he couldnt match it.  I tried to work something out with them but they refuse.  What should i do?

Thanks for taking time to answer my question.  About 6 months ago i took our company show car, which is an 2003 acura rsx imported from japan, to a local autobody shop for repair since it has been in a rollover accident.  I went to pickup the car last week and noticed the paint was a differnt white than what it is supposed to be.  It is supposed to be a acura championship white, and they painted it a tillepa white.  They say "tough because i didnt give them the paint code and they matched it the best they could."  But i was upset because if they didnt know what color it was they just had to ask me before spraying it.  I just want to know what should be done.  It is noticible when the hood is open and you can see the engine bay, or the inside of the trunk.

A couple of questions; Is Championship white the original color? I ask this because #NHO Championship white wasn't an option for 03. What's the original code? If the paint code doesn't match the actual color of the car it's the responsibility of the painter to do what he can to find out the color. If this was an insurance repair, the easiest thing is to make a formal complaint about the repair to the insurance co. They will make sure the shop does a satisfactory repair, or they will pay for someone else to repair it. Either way #NHO is obviously a totally different color than Taffeta White #NH578. A problem I've encountered with some painters is, instead of checking a code they just mix or order what they think it should be. When it doesn't match they try to blame it on someone, or something else. Either way it's ultimately the painters responsibility to make sure the paint matches.
I hope this helped,

Answer
The painter should have painted it the correct color. Since he didn't, and they are refusing to give you your car you need to speak to a professional. I would contact the state attorney general's office. They are there for situations like this. They would be the first step, and normally a well written, documented letter to their office is all it takes (they're there for the consumer). If that won't work, speak to a lawyer. It sounds like they're trying their best to screw you!!
