Car Alarms: Ford Escort 2002 Factory Alarm, dash area, ford dealership

Question
I recently bought a used Ford Escort 2002 and brought it home happily only to find out it had an alarm.  It goes off in the middle of the night and I have no idea how to shut it off.  I didn't even know it had an alarm because there isn't an LED blinky light on the steering wheel.
I had to disconnect the battery to make it stop blaring.  I can't even reconnect it to take it to a shop.  I think it's a factory alarm because it sounds like the horn going off.  Please help.  I just want it to go away forever.
Thank you!!

Answer
Well from what I know on this car,
the factory alarm disarms with either the factory remote
or, by turning the ignition key to the run position.

The troube here is that if it was going off there
could be a reason, and it actually was doing it's job.
But if it's an aftermarket system, then it could
be other problems. In either case, you should
try the first solution to disarm it, and if it
fails, look under the dash for a valet / overide switch,
and then put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button, found under the dash area in most cases,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area comes on solid.
(Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type.
in this case, key on, flip switch in oposite direction,
key off.)

This should be valet. This overides
the starter kill relay in the alarm harness,
and returns the car back to disarmed mode.

The only thing that will work now on your system,
is the keyless entry if installed.

Just Repeat these steps to rearm your system.

That should do it. But if it does not apply,
I would call a tow truck to have the local
Ford dealership to reset it. There is'nt much
you can do personally to disarm the factory system
permanantly without they're assistance in a 2002
Ford Escort.

Let me know what happens.
