Car Alarms: alarm problem, starter wire, dash area

Question
Hello Again,
I don't have a valet/overide button or a light on my dash to indicate that the alarm is on. So if I were to try and take out the relay to the starter what does it look like and how do I bypass it or do I just take it out all together? When you say fish out the alarm do you mean the box with the mother board in it? Any other tips would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your time,
Jesse

Hello Alarmtek,

I put a starter in my jeep yesterday and had to disconnect my battery. I have done this before and no problem. This time it set my alarm off when I tried to reconnect my battery (it has the starter kill).
This alarm was in the truck when I bought it and the fella that I bought it from didn't put  it in either. I have had other troubles with this alarm in the past. I don't know what kind of alarm it is. I also can't find a valet switch (which I learned about from your previous ansewrs). This is the first alarm I have had to deal with.
I have found a box that contains a mother board and makes a clicking noise when the alarm is engaged. There is also a little box on the mother board that has 1234 and a flip switch under each number.
I don't know if any of this helps but, I need to know what I can do. If I were to somhow find the switch that bypasses the kill switch would all of the other things still be going off on th alarm?
I'M LOST! HELP!

Thank you for your time,
Jesse
Answer -
There is a starter kill relay attatched to the starter
wire on this car. The alarm is sending a ground
through a wire (usually orange) to drive this
relay, thus sending a ground to the starter wire,
not allowing it to start while armed/alarmed.

So ok, try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button, found under the dash area in most cases,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area comes on solid.

This should be valet. This overides
the starter kill relay in the alarm harness,
and returns the car back to disarmed mode.

The only thing that will work now on your system,
is the keyless entry if installed.

Just Repeat these steps to rearm your system.

That should do it.
If not, I would fish out the alarm,
locate the starter wire, and remove
the relay alltogther.

Let me know what happens.

Answer
Ok then, locate the heavy Yellow wire
in the ignition switch harness
(the same on the remote starter is using)
then cut out the relay inline,
and re attatch the starter wire ends
back into original condition.

That's what's stopping you.
