Car Alarms: Car Alarm Activates Prematurely, viper car alarm system, viper car alarm

Question
I have a Viper car alarm system (500 series) on my 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse with no Autostart function because of the Manual Transmission.  I had not used the alarm for over a year because the remote was lost.  Recently I purchase another remote from the vendor that sold me the alarm.  When I activate the alarm (usually 1 beep) and start walking away from the vehicle, 95% of the time a hear another single chirp and shortly there after the alarm sounds.

I have made sure all doors and the hatchback are securely closed but nothing seems to work.

Is there a sensitivity setting on the alarm, or what might be causing the system to prematurely activate itself on its own.

Any suggestions would be appreciated since the system is no longer under warranty.

Sincerely,

Answer
The alarm is readin an open circuit. It's as if
the door trigger/domelight wire is not
attatched. Check that. These alarms are seeking
battery changes, and the car is someway
sending this signal that something is on.

if not, then I have no idea why it would do
this unless the ignition sense wire is also
disconnected, or the inline fuse is gone (BLOWN).

Check that too.

Good hunting.
