Car Alarms: car alarm removal, chev cavalier, keyless entry system

Question
I recently inherited a 1986 chev cavalier. I believe it has a gm factory alarm and I need to remove it. The car won't start anymore. It has a numbered keypad on the dash and a kill switch. Is there anyway I can permanently bypass the alarm or remove it myself. Hope you can help.

Answer
That's not a factory alarm.
It's an aftermarket kill switch.

Undo the bottom panel under the steering column,
and find the 8 guage yellow wire (STARTER) off
of the key switch.(it may be purple,
but I think it's yellow) and you will see
2 of the wires from the keypad
kill switch attatched to it.
Now, Cut these wires from the keypad kill off,
then put the 2 starter wire ends back together,
the way it was BEFORE that device was installed.

That should do it, you should be able to
start the car now, but I would then install
a decent alarm/keyless entry system so
you are protected. Easy car to steal and
steal from.

Good luck with it.
