Car Alarms: remote controls, dash area, oem factory

Question
Hi AlarmTek - The remote for my car alarm isnt working any more.  i push the button thats supposed to turn the alarm on or off and the lights on the remote blink, but the alarm doesnt respond.
The alarm is an old old one and I have no idea who made it,it came with the car,(88 camaro) which I bought from a friend. That friend is the one who originally set the codes, but I cant reach him to find out how he did it. There wouldnt be such an urgency to fix this except my alarm must have a short in it as it goes off constantly and I hate running down the block to have to start the car to shut it up.
I opened up the remotes to find a name and all I see is " AT4B  9910" on one of them, and the other says "AT2C and has a sticker on it with the numbers 342841 sitting on top of a chip looking thing.
Both remotes have 2 buttons, one round black one and one little green one.  I've only used the black buttons, the green ones have never done anything.
I'm sorry I dont have more information, but if theres any way you can provide me some help it would be very much appreciated by myself and my neighbors !!

Thank you
Cindy

Answer
Try to get the remote replaced at www.remotesunlimited.com.
Until then don't panic. Try this.

Look under the dash area, maybe to the left
foot area in the plastic, for a button/switch
that does not look like the OEM factory equipment.

Now put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the button until
the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area comes on solid.

This should be valet. This overides
the starter kill relay in the alarm harness,
and returns the car back to disarmed mode.

The only thing that will work now on your system,
is the keyless entry if installed.

Just Repeat these steps to rearm your system.

That should do it.

Let me know what happens.
