Car Alarms: 99 cougar alarm system problem, side kick panel, dash area

Question
A month ago I accidently hit my panic button on my key remote....I thought that when I would have put the key in the ignition, that the alarm would automatically turn off, but it didn't. This is a factory installed alarm system too. I ended up pulling the fuse for the alarm system to silence the horn, but you can still hear the relays clicking...I tried to pull both the positive and negative terminals off of the battery, but to no avail.....must have another power source somewhere....Is there anyway to reset my alarm system? thanks for any help.....Sean

Answer
No, if this is Ford's factory security,
you need to contact Ford to bypass it,
or permanantly ground the green/purple wire
in the drivers side kick panel.
But if it's an aftermaket alarm installed
at the dealership try this.

Look under the dash area, maybe to the left
foot area in the plastic, for a button/switch
that does not look like the OEM factory equipment.

Now put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the button until
the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area comes on solid.

This should be valet. This overides
the starter kill relay in the alarm harness,
and returns the car back to disarmed mode.

The only thing that will work now on your system,
is the keyless entry if installed.

Just Repeat these steps to rearm your system.

That should do it.

Let me know what happens.
