Car Alarms: Keyless entry is now unsyncd, keyless entry system, dash area

Question
My girlfriend's car came with an aftermarket keyless entry system from Prestige.  All I have to go on is that word on the keychain she presses to lock and unlock the doors.  Unfortunately her battery died recently and now the system doesn't respond to the key.

She said that she has had the battery in the car replaced before and the keyless entry continued to work, but I guess that there are several things that could cause it to reset.  The keychain doesn't have any dip switches to reset the signal, so I will have to find the main box if work needs to be done to the system.

Is there any known trick to resync the key and the entry system?  Like hold the button down while starting the car (tried that)?  Other cars with factory systems have that, but this is aftermarket and isn't tied to the starter, at least doubtful.

Suggestions welcome.  A pointer to the Prestige website welcome too (can't find it.)  Thanks!

Answer
Ok, don't panic. Try this.
Look under the dash area, maybe to the left
foot area in the plastic, for a button/switch
that does not look like the OEM factory equipment.

Now put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the button until
the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area comes on solid.

This should be valet. This overides
the starter kill relay in the alarm harness,
and returns the car back to disarmed mode.
This is also the programing button for new transmitters.
You will need a manual for that.

The only thing that will work now on your system,
is the keyless entry if installed.

Just Repeat these steps to rearm your system.

That should do it.

Let me know what happens.

Prestige is made by Audiovox.
Try www.autotechs.com .
I think they sell them.
