Car Stereos: Help with a dualxdvd8281, orange wire, shifter knob

I am puttin in a dual xdvd8281 in a 04 alero ANSI hooked everything up but I still have the orange wire(illumination) orange and white wire(dimmer) left the harness has these but the head unit doesn't well when I hooked all of it up plugged it in everything works on the head unit but now the lights on my dash and around the shifter knob don't work so do I need to hook the orange wire up to my accessories or does it need to be hooked up

No, you shouldn't need to hook those up -- it sounds like something else got disconnected in the process of installing your deck.  Look around to see if maybe you accidentally unplugged something back there while removing or reinstalling the deck.
