Car Stereos: wiring a 97 corolla for a pioneer deh 1400, pioneer deh 1400, purple wire

Question
i have looked at many wiring diagrams & i cant find an answer to this..i have a 97 corolla swapping out factory radio to a pioneer deh1400..i have all wires connected except 2. the 2 wires are in the wiring of the car..one is a green wire that's labeled for illumination but there's no place to connect it to the pioneer harness...the other is a white one that is not on any diagram...it was connected to the smaller harness of the corolla radio..( i believe it was with rear speakers)...how do i remedy this...thank you

Answer
Hi Jeff,

The white wire in the Corolla harness is the right rear negative.  It should exist on your new harness as a purple wire with black line.  You should be using an aftermarket harness to connect your car to the new system.  If you've cut your factory wires, you're asking for a world of trouble.

The illumination wire's job is to tell the deck to dim when you turn your car's lights on.  The DEH-P1400 doesn't feature that option, so you can safely just tape it off and not connect it to anything.
