Car Stereos: subs amp and deck 86 lincoln, pain in the butt, speaker wire

first off the original speakers short out. i pulled one out and the wire is to short to hook back up with out taking door panel off. any help? if im gonna do this my harness is cut anyways should i run new speaker wire? my colors dont match codes

Hi Kylie,

It depends on how much work you want to do and what you want to do.

If the wires are shorted out, then you probably want to wire new wires to the speaker from the deck.  It's a pain in the butt, but it's the only way you can be sure to fix it.

Alternatively, you can add new speaker wire to the wires that are too short, but if they were shorting, they probably will do it again.
