Audio Systems: wiring, infinity primus, tower speakers

Hi Mark, I'm finishing my basement and would like to rewire for surround sound etc.  I'd like to possible hook up my TV to separate speakers say in the ceiling etc. Is it best to have the TV and Stereo together and speakers say in the ceiling?  I don't quit know where to run my wiring and I'd like to get started on this because it's hanging me up.  Also is there any particular wiring for audio I should use?  Thanx for any help or additional ideas.

personally I dont like celing speakers much for home theater.  they are almost 90 degrees off axis (facing down, and away from audience) which significatly changes how they sound.  and when you sit under down firing surround speakers, they become too directional and draw your attention from the front, which is not how surround is suppose to be.  I highly recomend getting a good set of floor standing tower speakers for either side of your TV.  I particularly like the Infinity Primus 360s, acutally on a major sale right now, seen here:

these are about the best bang for the buck in prefab towers.

match them up with a center channel (needs to match your towers to sound right)  like this one:

I've been floord by this setup especially for the price.

for the wire, wire is very gimicky.  I do like overkill on the gauge and so, and its important that the wire is oxygen free to prevent corrosion but that's about it,  you can spend a ton of unnessary bucks on wire, so be careful.  if you can get 12 guage oxygen free speaker wire at a decent price, I'd run that.  if you cant,  go with 14 gauge for the surrounds but still go for the 12 for the front and center since they carry the majority of the power.  if you need help with locating specific stuff let me know I'll find it for you.
