Car Stereos: 04 ford freestar with stock dvd, ford freestar, rca connectors

Question
my ford freestar has a stock dvd player that can be controlled by the head unit or hanging dvd. the 6 cd disk changer has no RCA jacks so i want to install an aftermarket head unit. how will i do this without loosing the sound from dvd player. (i understand that i will loose the ability to control dvd from head unit) I wish to install cd player amp and sub without loosing the hanging stock dvd which currently plays through all speakers in my van. if you know of a connector or someway of accomplishing this it would be greatly appreciated......thx robert

Answer
Hi Robert,

There is a special stereo installation harness you need for the car that will break out the wires that come from the factory harness, and have RCA connectors on them.  You will plug these RCA connectors into the new deck, and you can keep your sound with the factory rear entertainment unit.

Any knowledgeable stereo shop should be able to provide you with that harness.
