Car Stereos: pioneer deh2350ubsw only plays bass from rca, rca outputs, pioneer mp3

Question
I had the older pioneer mp3 model pioneer hooked up with only the rca going to the amp and splitting it from there with the one channel playing the bass to the sub and the other channel playing the vocals etc on my 6x9 speakers. all i did was to remove the one head unit and hook up the new deh2350ubsw one in the exact same fashion. now i just get bass and no other sound coming out of the amp.went back to the store and they cannot advise me at all. they just say i must hook up my speakers direct onto the head unit, which i feel defeats the purpose. PLEASE HELP

Answer
Hi Devon,

The people at the store are partially right.

If you have two RCA outputs and you plug one into the subwoofer amp, and have the other run your other channels, your imaging will be completely wrong, and the system won't sound good at all.

Another important point is to make sure that you've used the right set of RCAs, and set up the deck correctly.  Decks can be configured to only output a mono sub signal on one channel, which is what it sounds like you have going on.

You should have a separate set of RCA outputs going to each output for your stereo.
