Car Stereos: subwoofer static, rca cables, stereo volume

Question
when my stereo volume is really low everything sounds fine, but when i turn it up i get static in my subwoofers and my capacitor flashes that there is no power even though it is on and working. just with a lot of static I've checked all fuses and wires everything seems fine. My RCA cables do not run along or cross over the power supply wire. could it be that the stereo is now hooked up properly. The previous owner cut out the wiring harness. I wired it directly to the stereo and it seems to work properly except for the static. oh and I am getting a failure msg on my head unit but nothing seems to be wrong. What could be the cause of all this. the stereo was previously hooked up and was woking fine. Due to certain circumstances had to remove, but after the truck was repaired and I got it back I then reinstalled the sytem and the static started right away.

Answer
Hi Dusty,

The first thing I'd concern myself with is the capacitor complaining about no voltage.  This would suggest to me you might have some loose wiring or a bad ground connection somewhere.  Make sure all of your electrical connections are tight, your grounds are short, and connected to the chassis near some sanded, cleaned, oiled metal, and nothing is touching where it shouldn't be.

The ground is definitely what I would think is an issue -- bad grounding can cause noise when the power it turned up, and for there not to be enough continuity for the cap to get properly charged.
