Car Stereos: by pass the factory amp, monte carlo ss, radio harness

i'm installing an aftermarket deck, amp, and subs in a monte carlo ss 01. will i need to rewire the vehicle, running speaker wire from the amp to the new radio harness? thanks for your help

Hi Buck,

If you want to remove the factory amplifier from the equation, you'll need to rewire.  You could try and reuse the wires already in the car but it would make more of a mess than it would help.  You will need to run new wire from your aftermarket deck to the speakers (or to the new amp if you're going to use an aftermarket amp on the speakers instead of just letting the deck power them).
