Car Stereos: car radio AM band not working....but was..., antenna fm, power antenna

JVC KD-R310.
Replaced the existing OEM in my Dodge 2005 Cummins 5.9L Laramie package.
AM band worked for a while it has since stopped. Just static.
FM seems unaffected.
I did have batteries replaced etc.the loss of the AM radio band was totally random & didn't coincide with that replacement. It seemed like it would at times play on the AM band at initial start up for about 2 sec's then disappear to static...now it's all static all the time except for FM band

Hi Tyler,

Your vehicle probably has a powered antenna, and the antenna power cable has come loose.

When you lose power to an antenna, FM uses a little bit of reception, but AM takes a massive hit.

Check the wiring to the deck and make sure that you have a good snug connection on the 'power antenna' wire.
