Car Stereos: 98 contour SVT, speaker grilles, ford contour

QUESTION: i just bought an 1998 ford contour SVT, it came without a radio. i have the wiring harness adapter, and installed the cd player, i have full power to the cd player but no sound comes out of the speakers, i hook up another speaker i have to the cd player and it works, so it has to be the factory amp, right? where is it? how do i make sure it is getting power and turning on? could there be any other reasons why the speakers are not producing sound? thank you in advance to any help you can give me.

ANSWER: Hi Jonathan,

On your front speaker grilles, does it say, 'PREMIUM sound'?  If so, you need to get the Ford factory integration harness to make your speakers work.

QUESTION: yes it has the premium sound, and i already bought the ford factory integration harness and no sound from the speakers.

Hi Jonathon,

If the car came without a radio, I'd start to wonder what the reason for it was.  Did someone not want you to notice the amp was blown (or missing)?

Check the amp's fuse as well.  At this point, as long as you've wired everything up right, you should be working.

(And I hate to ask this question, but did you check to make sure there were still speakers in the car?)
