Car Stereos: 2004 Jeep Liberty self-amplified speakers, factory amps, passive crossovers

I would like to know if there is any place I can get in-expensive replacement speakers (self-amplified) for the doors on my Liberty or is there any kind of wiring harness that will plug into the factory door harness to eliminate the amplifier in the doors and if so how and or where can I get this?

Hi Jeff,

Unfortunately, the original amplified speakers are only available from a dealer (or possibly as used parts on eBay).  There aren't any after-market drop-in replacements, or any bypass harnesses available, to the best of my knowledge.  It's a relatively simple job to bypass the factory amplifier by cutting and splicing wires at the amplifier plug itself.  This would require either disconnecting the factory tweeters, or installing passive crossovers to take the place of the active crossover built into the amplifier.  (If you're replacing the front door speakers with a decent after-market 2-way or 3-way speaker, then I'd usually recommend just leaving the stock tweeters disconnected).
