Car Stereos: remote start, passlock 2, sense wire

Question
I am installing a remote start into 00 Pontiac grand am. I have everything connected and the remote will turn the starter over but fuelpump wont engage. Everything is connected correctly but on the passlock bypass from expresskit it shows a green wire connected to key sense.'Connect this wire only if vehicle keysense wire goes to ground when the doors are closed'.The diagram has this wire with ignition wires going to BCM but there are only three wires there not four. Any idea where this wire is located and how to test.

Answer
Hi Darcy,

Sorry about the long delay in answering this question.

It sounds like you're using a PLJX module for this installation.  I've never used this one myself, and the modules I've used haven't required connections to key sense; in fact, I generally don't do anything with the key sense wire when installing a remote starter into a Grand Am.

The key sense wire in the Grand Am should be light green.  At the key switch, it's usually in the same 2 plugs as the main ignition and accessory wires; it's not located with the Passlock wires as the PLJX diagram makes it appear.  You'd test it with a multimeter set for DC voltage; the key sense wire will show 12 volts without the key in the ignition, dropping to 0 volts when you insert the key.

In the Grand Am, the Passlock wire set should be white, black and yellow; they're connected at the top of the ignition switch, not in the plugs with the other wires.  Make sure the PLJX module is programmed for the Passlock 2 bypass, not Passlock 1 or VATS. It's usually a good idea to solder your connections from the bypass module to the vehicle Passlock wires.

Hope this helps!
