Car Stereos: Broken sub... (wire disconnected/broken), kicker l5, speaker cone

Question
Okay so I have an older Kicker L5 sub and it stopped working.

As I took it out of the box, I noticed that a wire connected to a terminal was broken (it didn't lead anywhere). There were 3 more on the 3 other sides of the sub that were connected to the very middle. I was wondering if it would work if I soldered it back on there. Or would you recommend a new L5 or possibly the L3? Thank you

Answer
Hi Jake,

Sorry about the delay in answering this question.

Without seeing the sub, it's hard to say whether a repair is possible.  If the wire is broken where it connects to the terminal, then I'd say it's pretty likely that you could repair it by soldering it back into place.  On the other hand, if the wire's broken off where it runs through the speaker cone, it's much harder to repair without damaging the cone.  You really don't have anything to use by trying, though.

Good luck!
