Car Stereos: Pioneer Sound For Silverado, pioneer system, pioneer head unit

Question
Hey Brian, I just bought a Pioneer DEI-P8300UB receiver, a GEX-P920XM digital tuner. Presently I have a stock Delco stereo/cd player in my "01" Silverado LS, and one of those $60 low priced XM receivers wired into it. It has a pretty good sound, but will I get a better sound (and more watts of power) out of the Pioneer system ? And will I get a better (stereo separation) from XM through my new unit..compared to the cheaper add on that I have now ? XM doesn't seem to have the total stereo separation and that quality..rich sound like FM does..
                              Thanks Much Brian !  Mike

Answer
Hi Mike,

I wouldn't expect the Pioneer head unit to have significantly more power than your stock system, but it will certainly give you much more flexible control over your sound quality through the built-in EQ and bass control circuits.  As for the XM radio quality, I think you'll see a pretty significant difference, especially if you're listening to your current unit using an FM adapter.

To get the most from your new system, you might want to consider upgrading your front door speakers as well.

Hope this helps!

Brian
